Hole 14

Mens: Par 4, 340 yards, SI 14

Ladies: Par 4, 266 yards, SI 14

A smashing hole if you can draw left, awful if you slice right.

The tee box is set above the 13 th green and offers a narrow channel to the fairway which starts about 150 yards from the tee. A view to the green is blocked by thick woodland all along the left hand side. A stand of mature conifers runs the first 100 yards along the right.

A very good golfer may try to drive over the left side woodland and fade onto the fairway just short of the green, but I am only a good golfer and use a 5 iron to reach the visible part of the fairway and I aim for the right hand tree marked with a red roundel. From here it is another 5 or 6 iron to the green. If I over-hit my drive and the ball runs through the fringes of the trees protecting the right hand side, then I may carry along the fifteenth fairway or use a wedge to lift over the trees. Either way – no real problem.

The green is protected by three bunkers along its right side and medium rough land above its left. Do not over-hit your approach shot because the green slopes from front to back and from left to right.
