Many of the current members first joined as “juniors”, often encouraged by their parents and the tradition remains. In summertime particularly, one can still see parents trying to improve the swing of their offspring – although how they can do this when some of the juniors have a better handicap than themselves I don’t know!
We enjoy a very active junior section at Llanwen Golf Club having had past and present members selected to represent both Country and County.
Coaching sessions for beginners, overseen by our club professional takes place on Saturday mornings, with junior competitions being held on Sunday afternoons.
Llanwern also boasts a short par 3 Academy Course for the use of juniors and beginners alike. An ideal opportunity to practice the skills learnt in readiness to take on our main course.
