As most of you will be aware, we have made some great improvements to the Academy Course layout over the Winter, adding a bunker, two water hazards and 200 small trees. The design has been altered to include a 151 yard dog-leg par 4 and over the next few weeks should also see the addition of permanent tee mats, tee marker posts and signage. Special guests from the Sports Council for Wales and Newport City Council have been invited to attend an official opening on Friday 15 May at 1.30pm where the Chief Executive of Golf Development Wales, Andy Morgan, will cut the ribbon. Two girls and two boys representing 6 local primary schools will then compete in a foursomes competition on the new Course to showcase the facility. The Academy Course is proving a great learning ground for junior and beginner golfers who are given their first taste of golf through the Golf Foundation/Dragon Sport Trigolf initiative.
